Class Act
Project WordPlay is dedicated to keeping communication alive and ensuring every child has the skills and confidence to thrive through creativity and the arts. Drawing on extensive experience in Cherwell schools, we support children and young people, particularly those with English as an Additional Language (EAL), Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), and anyone who finds communication challenging. We do this by creating safe, inclusive spaces where they can develop speaking and listening skills, build confidence and strengthen peer relationships. Through drama, storytelling, games and collaborative art, we help children find their voice while fostering empathy, belonging and classroom cohesion.
We are about to launch a dedicated EAL pilot in partnership with the Resettlement Team at Cherwell District Council, offering free, weekly sessions targeted to support participating primary schools. This pilot is generously funded by Cherwell District Council, Sanctuary Housing and Oxfordshire County Council, whose support is helping us strengthen inclusion, connection and opportunity for children and schools across the community.
